About

Three decades on stage

Lucica Trita is a Romanian-born violinist whose career has carried her to concert stages across Europe, the Americas, and Asia. Since 2013 she has been a member of the BBC Symphony Orchestra in London, and her work as soloist, chamber musician, and orchestra leader spans more than thirty years.

She trained at the University of Music in Bucharest, where she earned her Bachelor's degree with Honours. From March 1990 to 2002 she served as Concertmaster of the Radio National Orchestra of Romania — the first woman to hold that role in the orchestra's history. Across those twelve years she recorded extensively for Romanian radio and television, including a notable CD of the Violin Concerto by Vasile Timiș, conducted by Paul Popescu.

Her career then took her to Spain, where she was Co-Principal of the Second Violins of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia and founded the Orchestra de Mujeres of Sinfónica de Galicia, which she has conducted and led since 2010.

Today she performs with the BBC Symphony, teaches across London and Oxfordshire, and directs the Lucica Trita Violin Academy — a school she founded in 2018 to bring rigorous classical training to young musicians.
